Software Engineer · Portugal
Software Engineer focused on robust systems, .NET architecture and complex data integration. In parallel, I write and reflect on the impact of technology on the economy, digital regulation, public policy and contemporary challenges.
About me
I build systems where reliability and data integrity are non-negotiable. What draws me to software engineering is determinism: understanding exactly why a process behaves the way it does, choosing the right data structure rather than the convenient one, and designing transactions that maintain consistency even when the network, the ERP or the user decide otherwise. I work mostly in the .NET ecosystem, across APIs, relational databases and integrations where a lost record is a real business problem.
Beyond the code, that same curiosity applies elsewhere: working out how the pieces fit together. I write opinion pieces on economics, public policy and technology regulation, because I believe collective decisions deserve the same scrutiny we give a badly indexed query. I am a member of Iniciativa Liberal and deputy coordinator of its Leiria territorial branch. And then there is the decompression: a long RPG, a well-written series, a bake that finally works on the third attempt, a new city to explore on foot, and a fondness for precision mechanisms that run without a single line of code.
Engineering
From API contracts to relational database design: technical choices that keep accidental complexity out and lower long-term maintenance costs.
Designing and building services in C# / .NET: Web APIs and Minimal APIs, with explicit contracts, reusable utility libraries and well-defined boundaries between layers.
Rigorous relational modelling, complex queries and performance tuning. Integration with ERP and third-party services while preserving transactional consistency and end-to-end data integrity.
Clean Architecture as a tool, not as dogma. Deterministic code, resilient under failure, and still readable five years from now by someone who did not write it.
Opinion & Politics
Reflections on economics, digital regulation, public policy and contemporary challenges.
Cameras are multiplying across our cities with no debate. They sell us an illusion of safety and charge us for it in freedom.
A generic last-minute text message is not prevention. Six months after storm Kristin, what is missing is not technology: it is decentralising emergency response and trusting those who know the ground.
The PSU gets it exactly right in simplifying the system and rewarding those who want to work. But it fails badly when it tries to police household savings.
"Trabalho XXI" looks at the results in the North but keeps the South's bad habit. It wants to provide security by overloading companies instead of taking on social protection itself.
A municipal grocery shop is the wrong cure for an illness the State itself helped create. What squeezes household budgets is not the price of rice: it is the rent.
The "free" motorways promised by PS and Chega are a political conjuring trick. Real freedom, social and economic, is won with fair prices.
We cannot destroy everyone's freedom in an attempt to create an illusory safety for some. Privacy is not a luxury; it is the foundation of our freedom.
Between 2015 and 2024 the Portuguese State added over 90,000 people to its payroll. Hospital queues are as long as ever and schools are short of teachers. So where are they?
Portugal's minimum income benefit costs the State €341 million a year; the TAP bailout cost €3.2 billion. Café-table myths, set against the actual figures.
I am a member of Iniciativa Liberal and deputy coordinator of its Leiria territorial branch. The pieces collected here are personal opinion.

Personal side
The analogue world & other detours.
Dense RPGs, turn-based strategy and deep mechanics. The appeal mirrors engineering: dissecting the invisible logic beneath the surface and finding the ideal way to optimise it.
An appreciation for outstanding visual storytelling, intentional art direction and speculative fiction that invests in coherent, complex and immersive world-building.
Well-executed dishes and the exacting chemistry of baking: proportions measured down to the gram, controlled temperatures and respect for every step. Technical precision with an edible result.
Urban exploration and street photography across dozens of destinations in Europe, Asia, North America and Africa. Meticulous itineraries explored on foot, seeking cultural heritage, architectural contrasts and details of everyday life.
View the galleryPrecision engineering you can wear. Hundreds of components in mechanical synchrony on the wrist, combined with the aesthetic power of a piece that conveys character and attention to detail without saying a word.
